Abstract

This article is a survey of music teaching in Italian schools with a focus on general music. To facilitate comparison with situations in other countries, it includes information both about the teaching of music in various types of schools and about the overall structure of the Italian school system. The author also includes an overview of recent trends and suggestions for reform in music education in Italy
