About This Journal
The Journal of Screen Translation Studies is an annual, peer-reviewed journal devoted to publishing original scholarship on all subjects related to the history, practice, and theory of audiovisual translation, specifically in areas including dubbing, subtitling, or captioning.
We are committed to offering film scholars, translators, cinephiles, and readers a forum that fosters a conversation on the fundamental role of translation in the film and television industries worldwide, which now must compete with newer forms of media such as web-based streaming services. In our efforts to facilitate cross-cultural communication by publishing the best new scholarship in the discipline, we are seeking contributions (articles or reviews) that meet a high standard of academic inquiry. Interviews with artists and industry professionals will also be considered for publication.
JSTS publishes volumes focusing on special topics as well as open-themed issues. Articles in English are preferred, but submissions in other languages will be considered as well. Perspective authors are encouraged to consult the most recent CFP on our website, and also to contact the editors prior to submitting their work.
