The Law, Mind and Cognition Program of the University of Connecticut School of Law promotes the application of ideas from psychology to the study of issues relating to the intent, consent, motivation and decision-making of legal actors. The Program takes a unique, integrated approach by bringing together scholars doing work across a range of psychological perspectives, including clinical psychology, organizational psychology, social psychology, cognitive neuroscience, philosophy of the mind, linguistics, psychoanalysis, and behavioral economics. UConn Law faculty and external scholars by invitation study a wide variety of legal issues, such as mens rea, prenuptial agreements, trauma, false confessions, negotiation, and consumer decision-making. The Law, Mind and Cognition Program promotes innovative research and teaching within the discipline, particularly in the areas of criminal law, family law, health law, international human rights, legal profession, and disability law.
