Abstract

Described are the changes key performance indicators of rowers (N = 16; age 20 ± 1 years, rowing experience 4 ± 3 years, height 171.8 ± 4.8cm, weight 74.1 ± 10.2 kg) of an NCAA women’s varsity crew in an offseason training program. Participants made up both varsity eight and junior varsity eight person boats. All had been part of the varsity team for a minimum of one year. Squat maxes, vertical jump measurements, and watt test scores were taken over an 11- week training period. Squat maxes and watt test score were taken pre/ post. Vertical Jump was assessed multiple times throughout the semester. All measurements were taken as averages with 95% confidence intervals. Squat max improved significantly from pre to post values. Watt testing improved significantly from pre to post as well as between time points. Vertical jump only reached significance the fifth and seventh jump. Results of key performance indicators need to be further assessed to determine optimal boat performance.
